Jun 30, 2022 · "Because The Night" is a great, compact, straightforward song, Patti Smith's performance is great on it, and the 7" single had a great cover image. Springsteen released three singles from Darkness At The Edge Of Town in 1978 and none did as well on the singles charts as "Because The Night" (which went into the top 20).

Easter (1978) was her most commercially successful record, containing single Because the Night co-written with Bruce Springsteen. Wave (1979) was less successful, although songs Frederick and Dancing Barefoot both received commercial airplay.

May 10, 2021 · Honestly, I've never listened to Patti Smith beyond her biggest songs and the Horses album... and now that I think about it, I honestly couldn't tell you why, given that I like everything I've heard! Listening to the first couple tracks on Radio Ethiopia though, and these songs are really good! Damn my unadventurous brain lol

Patti's of course an important and influential artist as "The Godmother of Punk" and "Punk Poet Laureate", how she originally didn't get into music. And it's interesting to learn about Bruce's connection to the punk artists at the time.
